Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a short term evidence-based therapy model designed to help children and their families understand why traumatic events happen, reduce commonly occurring symptoms of stress and trauma and develop coping strategies.
Play therapy is based on the understanding that play is the primary way that children learn about themselves and their world and is an important part of how they communicate and express their thoughts and feelings. In play therapy, play is used to help the clinician understand the child’s internal experience as well as to help them develop problem-solving and expressive skills.
